Cottage Features

It's been a long time since horses rested in this characterful cottage but we've been careful to preserve it's original features, including the original stalls and exposed stonework.

The cottages has a double bedroom and a twin with sea views across the fields. The twin beds can be made into a king-size bed on request, and a single sofa bed is also available (at an additional charge). The family bathroom includes a shower over the bath and there's a second WC, downstairs.

The farmhouse kitchen is well equipped and you can enjoy Smart TV and WiFi in the cosy lounge from which you have direct access to the shared enclosed garden, where dogs can exercise, you can enjoy a barbecue or enjoy some glorious sunsets.

1Do You Provide Towels and Bedding?
Bed linen is provided. Hand towels for the kitchen and bathroom, towel bath mat, two tea towels and oven glove are also provided. Personal towels can also be provided if required – please inform me at time of booking.
2What time do we check in and out?
Check in is after 3pm on your arrival day and check out is by 10am on your day of departure
3How many nights is a short break and when?
Short breaks are up to 4 nights subject to availability. These can be booked at any time for low season and 3 weeks before the arrival date in mid season.
4How many pets do you allow?
Having 3 dogs myself I try and be as flexible as possible but do put some restrictions on the smaller properties. If you have more than 2 dogs please contact me direct via phone or email to check which property will best meet your needs for the number and size of your dogs. For Rosedale and Old Stable please contact me if you have more than 3 dogs. There is a small charge of £15 per pet per stay. I am also very accommodating of other pets and have had cats, rabbits, budgies and parrots staying – again, please contact me direct to discuss further.
5Where is the nearest supermarket?
Sainsbury's, Asda and Tesco all deliver to this area. We have a Co –Op in Staithes which is well stocked and do fresh baked bread. In Hinderwell there is a Butchers that is also a general store. At Lythe there is a Community general store shop, café and Post Office. In Whitby there is a Lidl and a Sainsbury’s (with fuel station) Head towards Saltburn and at Skelton there is an Asda with fuel station.
6How far is it to a café or pub?
The Badger Hounds is about a 10 minute walk – they consistenly get good reviews from our guests and huge portions too! They are dog friendly but I would advise booking as they do get busy. Just up the road from there is The Ellerby Hotel, which does pub food and has a lovely garden. (dogs only allowed in the garden though). The Black Bull at Ugthorpe is well worth a visit as is The Cliffemount Hotel at the top of Runswick Bay with fantastic views. Dogs welcome in the bar area for meals. The Jolly Sailors on the A171 is also fantastic. The Runcible Spoon in Hinderwell is our local café and dogs are welcome outside and The ship Inn Café is just minutes away. At Sandsend, Neil in Sandside Café has a beautiful seafront position and dogs are welcome in the covered decking or front outside seating area….a firm favourite of ours and the dogs. The food is amazing (a Boxing Day full English breakfast in the fresh air wins hands down as does a sunny day with homemade cheesecake and fresh coffee after a long walk on the beach!!) To be honest the whole area is covered with pubs and cafes that are welcoming of children and dogs so you are totally spoilt for choice whichever way you turn.
7What is the weekly booking change over day?
Saturday
8How many cars do you have parking for?
There is parking for a total of 4 cars in the courtyard for the 3 properties. For larger vehicles or additional cars I can accommodate you at the back of my property if agreed at time of booking.
9What disabled access do you have?
There is two steps up into the top courtyard and a small threshold over the front door and back door. There are 2 steps down into the bedroom otherwise it is all on the level and suitable for someone with limited mobility. A swivel bath seat and grab rail can be provided if required – please request at time of booking: first come first served.
